Lora M. (Marty) McGovern, 42, of Dubuque, formerly of Stockton, IL, and rural Hazel Green, WI, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.

Visitation will be from Noon – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where there will be a time of sharing at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Lora was born on August 21, 1976 in Dubuque, the daughter of Patric and Lynne (Peacock) Marty. She was a 1994 graduate of Southwestern High School in Hazel Green. On November 5, 1999 she was united in marriage to Andrew J. McGovern in Elizabeth, IL.

She loved flowers, gardening, yoga and her cats. But most of all she was especially proud of her children. Lora was known to be “free spirited”.

Surviving is her husband Andrew J. McGovern of Stockton; their five children, Patric McGovern, Vera McGovern, Drew McGovern, and twins Alice and Stella McGovern; her parents, Patric and Lynne Marty; siblings, John Marty of Hazel Green, Tom (Kim) Marty of Prescott, AZ, Shirley (Lee) Klosterman of Rewey, WI, Nevada Marty of Hazel Green, Beth Marty of Cincinnati, OH, Mickey Marty, James Marty, and Dorothy Marty all of Hazel Green, and Ted (Robyn) Oberhauser of LaPorte City, IA; her grandmother, Shirley Peacock of Dubuque, her aunt, Diana Peacock, uncles, James Peacock, Jr. and Michael (Kelly) Peacock, plus numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Peacock, Sr, and paternal grandparents, Mickey and Dorothy (Keller) Marty.

A Lora M. McGovern memorial fund has been established.
