Scott was born on March 22, 1977, in Dubuque, IA, a son to Gary L. and Donna M. (Fransen) Reimer. He knew from a young age that he wanted to help as many people as possible in his community in any way that he could. Scott’s talents surely leaned in the community activist’s realm of life and his devotion to the gay community and the Democratic party has been the primary focus of his energies throughout the years. He has worked with Resources United, Hillcrest, The VNA and even worked with the local Dubuque effort to campaign for Hillary Clinton in 2015. His organizational skills have led many events to a successful end and his absence will surely be felt by many, but his passions didn’t end there. In his free-time, Scott was a Marvel enthusiast, along with anything Batman, Star Wars, or Star Trek. No picking sides here, he was a fan of all options in the genre. Scott was a kind soul who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends whenever he could. He always wanted to help others and that drive seemed to never sleep. We will miss Scottie more than he could ever know, but are grateful for the time that we had with him all the same. Thank you, Scott, for helping so many people around our community and may you now find peace from the earthly battles you’ve been facing, until we meet again.

Marcia Broshous
M
arcia Broshous (Webster) 63 of Dubuque, IA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 10, 2022, from a sudden illness. Funeral service will be 1 PM, Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM, Friday, July 15, 2022, at Furlong Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Galena.
Marcia was born on October 18, 1958. She grew up in Galena, IL and graduated from Galena High School in 1976. Marcia realized early on that she had a passion for taking care of others. Early in life she volunteered as a candy striper and took great care in helping even those whom she didn’t know well but needed her help. She believed in being the good, being a helper. Not only did she love to care for people, but she also had an unbelievable compassion and love for animals. She had many rescue pets in her lifetime and gave them a wonderful life. She also cared for her daughters’ pets as if they were her own, often staying at their homes or checking in on them while her daughters and their families were away. The animals adored her and knew they’d be getting the best love when she arrived.
Marcia met Robert (Bob) Broshous when they were teenagers. When Bob joined the Army and was stationed in El Paso, TX they stayed in touch by writing letters. Bob convinced Marcia to move down to Texas with him and they were married August 4, 1978. They celebrated that day with cheeseburgers and a frosty from Wendy’s. They went on to have three daughters Ashley, Adrienne and Alea. Marcia dedicated her life to being an amazing wife and wonderful mother. As an Army wife, Marcia made it her mission to make a home for her family wherever they were stationed. She loved to decorate for the holidays and changed out the décor for every season. Marcia was the life of the party and had a talent for throwing a great event. Her family will tell you that her fun-loving personality made her up for anything, including dressing up for theme parties she hosted. Marcia made friends easily and had long lasting friendships with so many people from all over the country. She was the most caring, giving, and nurturing friend to anyone and everyone. Marcia always put her family and friends first and found joy in taking care of others. She would pride herself on finding the perfect gifts for her loved ones, which always included one special “Goodwill” gift that she purchased second hand. She even wrapped the used gifts in recycled wrapping paper. Marcia enjoyed being frugal and she used her creativity to reduce waste by repurposing all kinds of things.
Her three daughters would describe Marcia as their “best friend”. She was the best listener and somehow managed to keep track of everyone’s busy schedules. She celebrated their joys with them, cheered them on through life’s challenges and taught them to make the world a better place by spreading happiness and love. She even passed on her enthusiastic laugh, ok more of a cackle, to her daughters. Marcia had eight grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She was very hands-on and lived to see her grandchildren happy. Her grandchildren adored her and looked forward to adventures with her. The grandchildren knew her as “GaGa” and lovingly nicknamed her “Grandma Marshmallow” since she had a stash of marshmallows, she would let them eat at any time of the day.
She is survived by her husband of almost forty-four years, Robert Broshous, three daughters, Ashley (Nathanial) Mealhow, Adrienne (Darrin) Kaisand and Alea (David Robinson) Broshous, eight grandchildren, Nadia, Nash, Noxx, Gia, Jett, Jude, Gemma and Emmanuel, her mother, Donna McKnight, two brothers, Wayne (Tina) Webster and Gary (Angie Heidenreich) Webster and her extended family and so many special friends.
Marcia was preceded in death by her father, Howard Webster and her stepfather, Paul McKnight.
The family requests that donations in memory of Marcia be made to Safe Haven Humane Society. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.furlongfuneralchapel.com

Gary A. Kintzle
Gary Allen Kintzle, 61, of Minnesota and formerly of the Jackson County area passed away suddenly on July 8, 2022 in Maquoketa.
Gary was born on July 30, 1960 in Bellevue, Iowa. He was orphaned at 10 months old when he lost both of his parents in a car accident on June 21, 1961. He was raised by his grandparents Allen and Maude Ernst. He was a graduate of Andrew High School. He married Kim Roe on April 17, 1982 in Bellevue, Iowa, and to this union a son Kurtis was born. Following his divorce from Kim, he entered a long-term 19-year relationship and became an integral part of raising two bonus children, Sara and Amanda. He currently was residing in MN with his special friend, Vickie.
Through the years, Gary had worked in several occupations including Naeve’s, Ranco, hauling bulls for the PBR, rebuilding after Katrina, Lowe’s, and numerous construction jobs. However, the real “love of his life” was trucking. He loved being behind the wheel and on the road. Over the years, he traveled millions of miles and met many people. He loved to talk and visit with people. He also enjoyed being outside and people watching.
Gary is survived by his son, Kurtis (Tabitha Yarolim) Kintzle of Maquoketa, IA; 2 granddaughters, 6 step-grandchildren; bonus children, Sara (Josh) Bahl, and Amanda Meggers; special friend, Vickie Shaffer; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. James E. Noonan
James Edward Noonan, 75, of Dubuque, died Sunday, July 10, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 14th at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Friday, July 15, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Jim was born in Dubuque on November 24, 1946, the first of 4 sons to Frank and Elaine (Fessler) Noonan. He graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in 1965 and Loras College in 1969.
Also in 1969 he married the love of his life Kristine Koob. They planted their roots in Dubuque, and welcomed 3 children and 7 grandchildren into the world over 51 years of marriage before her passing in 2021.
Following in his father’s footsteps as a teacher, Jim left his mark on many students in Dubuque and the surrounding areas teaching for 40 years at St Anthony’s, Western Dubuque/Drexler Middle School and Beckman High School. Jim also left his mark on the Iowa high school sports world. He officiated countless varsity, semi-pro, and collegiate basketball, baseball and football games. Known for his knowledge of the game and professionalism, Jim was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Officials Hall of Fame in 2002. He could not have gotten there without the assistance and hard work of his amazing friends and fellow officials, J.L. Brimeyer, Bill Gerber, Gill Spence , Jim Prochaska, and many more he donned the uniform with. He had a passion for coaching high school sports including golf, basketball and most notably, for his 20 years coaching Wahlert softball taking them to their first state tournament in 2009. He would be the first to tell you that talent makes coaches, and he wouldn’t have amassed over 450 victories if it weren’t for many talented players and assistant coaches. He developed a reputation as a “colorful” coach who strived to keep practice and games enjoyable. This earned Jim a position in the Wahlert Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.
After bowing out of the education and sports worlds after many years, Jim further embraced his role as Dad and “Papa”. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, hosting family gatherings and visiting/caring for family around the Dubuque area, and watching his beloved St Louis Cardinals every chance he got.
He left his legacy in so many students and players, and in his family who were able to learn how to push yourself to your highest potential, but also have fun even when times get tough.
Jim was preceded in death by his dearest wife Kris Noonan in 2021, grandson Jack Noonan in 2017, as well as his parents Frank and Elaine Noonan and his beloved uncle Gerard “Bud” Noonan. He is survived by his children Sean (Shanda) Noonan of Ankeny, Iowa, Molly (Bill) Bodish and Erin (Russ) Tomkins of Dubuque; his grandchildren Connor Noonan of Urbandale, Iowa, Cody Krause of Ankeny, Iowa, and Hope Krause, Ella Tomkins, Tanner Tomkins, and Aubrey Tomkins all of Dubuque; his brothers Thomas (Kathy) Noonan, David (Jane) Noonan, and Terry (Jeralyn) Noonan and many other family members who meant so much to him.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at ob***@******************er.com. A memorial fund has been set up to honor Jim’s legacy as a softball coach for Wahlert Catholic High School to name the dugouts in his honor for years to come.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of Dubuque team, especially Melissa, as well as Dr. Whalen and his nurse Sara for their kind and thoughtful care in Jim’s final days.
