OSHA 10 Hour Training for High School Students – NO COST!!
The Alliance for Construction Excellence (ACE), a committee of the Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council, will be hosting a free OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training program for high school juniors and seniors at Portzen Construction (205 Stone Valley Drive) on Wednesday, December 18th and Thursday, December 19th, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM each day.
This two-day training, which is offered at no cost to participants, is designed for students who are currently working in construction or planning to enter a construction trade after graduation. Attendance is required for both days, and there will be no make-up sessions for missed time. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive an OSHA 10-Hour Safety card, a critical credential for anyone entering the construction industry.
The ACE is committed to promoting safety on construction sites, and the importance of providing students with essential safety training is more important than ever. In light of a tragic accident on a local construction site last spring, the committee is doubling down on its efforts to ensure that the next generation of workers is well-equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to protect themselves in the field.
The program will be taught by certified trainers from Laborers Local 43, Ironworkers Local 89, and Operating Engineers Local 234. It is funded through a generous grant from Theisen’s, and ACE is dedicated to making this an annual offering for local students. The training is being held in memory of Jacob Young, a beloved member of the construction community whose legacy continues to inspire this initiative.
