Visiting Nurse Association Expands to Include Family Planning Services
The UnityPoint Health – Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) in Dubuque is has expanded its services to include comprehensive family planning, funded through the federal Title X grant, received and distributed by Iowa Health and Human Services.
Through this funding, UnityPoint Health – VNA will provide clinical care, educational services, and referrals, using a combination of Title X support, third-party insurance billing and sliding-fee scales based on income and insurance status.
“Expanding these services ensures that the people in our communities, especially those facing financial barriers, have access to essential, confidential, and client-centered reproductive health care,” said Stacey Killian, director of the VNA. “Our goal is to support individuals in making informed decisions about their reproductive health and overall well-being.”
The program, which serves Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Howard, Fayette, and Winneshiek counties, will provide services at locations in Dubuque and Elkader. Please call 563-245-1145 to schedule.

e clinic’s provider, Kelly McMahon, ARNP, will offer a wide range of reproductive and preventive health services, including:
- Pregnancy testing and counseling
- Reproductive life planning
- Education on abstinence and responsible sexual decision-making
- Relational education and counseling
- Preconception counseling for a healthy pregnancy
- Contraceptive options, including birth control pills, IUDs, long-acting reversible contraception, Depo-Provera injections, and basal thermometers
- Free condoms and oral dams
- Emergency contraception
- STI testing and treatment
- Treatment of minor gynecological concerns
- Infertility counseling and referrals
- Annual exams, including Pap screenings and HPV vaccination
