To honor Betty’s life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Trinity Church, 1701 Rhomberg Avenue, with Rev. Andrew Awotwe-Mensah officiating. To celebrate Betty’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m., until the time of services at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born on March 18, 1935, in Winneshiek County, Iowa, daughter of Harry and Inez Rose (Jahnke) Schutte.

Betty was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald J. Hines, on May 10, 1952, at the Church of the Nativity in Dubuque. The two were blessed with 24 years, and 5 wonderful children, before Don was called home suddenly on April 22, 1977. Betty was a devoted wife and mother who also put her God given talents to work outside of the home in the publishing and printing industry for several years before finishing her working career as a cashier at the Five Flags Center. Her faith was an integral part of her daily life and Betty was an active and long-time member of Holy Trinity Church. We are deeply saddened at the loss of our wonderful mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend, but take some comfort in the fact that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Don, and her son, Jeffrey in their new and eternal heavenly home. We will miss you dearly Betty and are grateful for the memories you leave behind for us to treasure.
