Eunice C. Woosley

Eunice C. “Lois” Woosley, age 87 of Dubuque, Iowa, completed her earthly journey on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Hawkeye Care Center in Dubuque, while in the loving care of her family. To celebrate Eunice’s life, private family services are being held in California. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Eunice’s family.

Eunice was born on February 25, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter to Glenn and Dorothy (Kinze) Tillinghast. She eventually started a family of her own, being blessed with 4 children from her first marriage to Richard Thomas Nuttall, Sr. She did finally meet the love of her life, Louis Woosley and they spent 37 wonderful years together before he was sadly called home in 2011. Her children were her life and they would continually and gladly run down the batteries on their ear pieces just to allow Eunice to share a few more stories which she felt needed to be told. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren, and continually strived to leave behind a positive example of love which will now thankfully carry on in the generations to follow.

After graduating from high school, Eunice decided she wanted to see the rest of the world out there and gain as many experiences as she could in this life. She was a model in her younger years before she began her career in the insurance industry. She owned her own insurance company for many years in California before moving to the Seattle area. She spent some time as a court reporter, a clerk of court and even hosted her own Christian Talk Show in Bowling Green, Kentucky before eventually retiring and moving up to Dubuque to be close to her daughter. Eunice quickly found comfort among her new friends and neighbors in Dubuque and her final stop on the tour of life experiences was now complete. She decided to work at Fazoli’s to pass some of the spare hours in her day, but her real passion was truly found in the hours of socializing she would fill her time with. Her hobbies of bowling, snow skiing and softball had long been relinquished, but her drive to simply visit and share her wealth of knowledge with anyone who would listen had never diminished.

Eunice was a proud, beautiful, vibrant, strong and tender-hearted woman who only wanted to make the world a better place around her. She will be deeply missed more than words can say, but we also know that the heart breaks of losing her daughter and husband were never going to be mended while she was still here with us. Now, Eunice is able to enjoy a most glorious family reunion and no doubt embracing the opportunity to bend their ears a little until we meet again. Thank you, Eunice for sharing your bright and wonderful spirit with us for 87 years and may we find comfort in the days, weeks and months ahead in the abundance of memories you’ve left behind.
