Jerry was born September 7, 1939 in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of Joseph J. and Rosemary (Colligan) Richard. He married Patty Kehoe on April 28, 1962 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. They enjoyed 56 years together and were blessed with six children.

Jerry earned his high school diploma from St. Columbkille School. He went on to Loras College for his Bachelor of Art’s Degree, and finished with a Master of Business Administration from The University of Dubuque. He began his career as a staff technologist in Radiology in 1961 and spent most of his career as the Director of Imaging Services at Mercy Hospital retiring in May 2001. Jerry was an active member in the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA). He was elected to many leadership positions and achieved Fellow status in 1992. He was a servant leader fully committed to his employees and profession.

Jerry was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith and was an active member in serving the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #510. Jerry loved working on cars and enjoyed the challenge of fixing most anything! As much as he enjoyed doing the work, he loved sharing his knowledge with others. He was a good and decent man; kind and gentle never hesitating to help a person in need. His work ethic was nonstop and only illness slowed his ambition. He cherished great joy in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and always prayed for their faith and safety. During retirement, he really enjoyed working at Richardson’s Motors and all the people he met as a courtesy driver. He also enjoyed watching a variety of sports especially the Hawkeyes, Cubs and Bears and dabbled in playing golf and pitching horse shoes.
