James N. Beebe
James N. “Jim” Beebe, 87, of Scales Mound, IL, passed away Thursday morning, February 28, 2019 at Hawkeye Care Center in Asbury, IA.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Scales Mound United Methodist Church, with Rev. Libby Rutherford officiating. Burial will be in the Scales Mound Twp. Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home in Scales Mound, and from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. on Monday at the Church.
Jim was born on March 15, 1931 in Buncombe, WI, the son of Alvin and Mae (Hughes) Beebe. He graduated from Benton, WI. High School in 1950. On May 25, 1957 he was united in marriage to Lola Ann Berryman at the Scales Mound United Methodist Church.
Jim and Ann farmed near Scales Mound. A very important part of Jim’s life was his family and his grandchildren. He loved farming, raising English Shepherd stock dogs andworking with many church and community projects.
Jim enjoyed people. He served on the Jo Daviess County Soil & Water Conservation Board, Swiss Valley Farms advisory board, was a member of the United Methodist Church of Scales Mound, where he served on the Board of Trustees and was chairman for many years. He also served on the Church Administrative Board.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Lola Ann; his two sons, Terry J. (Jolene) Beebe of Platteville, WI, and Thomas G. (Jill) Beebe of Rockford, IL; four grandchildren, Tanner, Jared (Jesselyn), Taylor, and Jack; two sisters, Bernice Beyhl of East Moline, IL, and Elva Jean Sincock of Benton, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mae, two grandsons, Max and Joel, a sister, Dorothy Cox, a brother, Glen A. Beebe, and brothers-in-law, Oran Cox, Stuart Sincock, Dean Beyhl, R. Glen Berryman, and in-laws, Loyd V. and Gladys (Hicks) Berryman.
