John M. Aslin
John M. “Jack” Aslin, 90, of Dubuque passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Visitation will be from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2024 at St. Colubkille’s Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
John was born June 26, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa, son of Leonard and LaVerne (Morgan) Aslin. He grew up mainly in South Dakota. He was educated at Centerville High School, Centerville, South Dakota and Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
John served in the US Army after being drafted in the late 1950’s.
He married Ann “Cookie” Aslin on February 2, 1957. It was a good marriage that stood the test of time for over 67 years. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2024.
John was the owner of Aslin Sales Inc. that sold pipe valves and fittings. He represented the A.Y. McDonald Manufacturing Co. for 57 years.
John was an avid boater and a member of the Julien Dubuque Yacht Club for over 45 years. He was also a member of Dubuque Golf and Country Club for over 40 years.
He is survived by his sons, John A. “Mike” (Barb) Aslin and James J. “Jim” Aslin, his grandchildren, Dr. Audra (Dr. Micah) Long, Alexa (Jordan) Banda and John V. “Vinny” Aslin and a step grandson, Thomas (Nicole) Riddle. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Jordan, Boss, Mario, Addison, Heidi, Charlie, and Cadence.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel Paul “Dan” Aslin, a step-grandson, Josh Riddle and a sister, Colleen Aslin.
