Linda K. Mushrush

Linda K. Mushrush, age 67, of Dyersville, IA, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024, at home while surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 24 year battle with cancer.

To honor Linda’s life, her memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2899 Hales Mill Road in Asbury, IA, with Rev. Karla Wildberger officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service for Linda’s family and friends.

Linda was born on August 16, 1956, in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Harold and Laura (Kuster) Scott.  After graduating from Illinois State University, she embarked on a lifelong teaching career.  Linda loved helping shape the minds of her students and had a natural ability to meet the children right where they were.  She devoted 21 years of her time and talents to Bradford Elementary School in Bradford, IL, before eventually relocating to Dyersville and spending another 17 years with the NICC Child Development Center in Peosta, IA.

Linda was not only a committed teacher, but also a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was united in marriage to her soulmate, Kirk Mushrush, on December 10, 1983, and the two were blessed with three children.

Linda enjoyed baking and continually put her skills on display for others to delight in, but more than anything, she was passionate about spending time with her family and friends, having an active role in her grandsons’ lives, and being an unwavering servant of God.  The legacy of love that Linda leaves behind will be treasured in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Kirk Mushrush, of Dyersville, IA; her three children: Whitney (Ryan) Coohey, Cameron (Lisa) Mushrush, and Morgan (Phillip) Timmerman all of Dyersville, IA; her five grandchildren: Issac and Noah Timmerman and Parker, Ethan, and Asher Coohey; three sisters: Sharon (Lorry) Murray of Galva, IL, Cinda Scott of Bradford, IL, and Melanie (Ron) Roberts of Metropolis, IL; her mother-in-law, Joanne Mushrush, of Peoria, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Laura Scott and her father-in-law, Robert Mushrush.

Linda’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque for all of their professional and compassionate care over the last two weeks.

The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Linda’s family and online condolences may be shared with Linda’s family at www.tristatecremationcenter.com.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Dubuque and Fur Fun Rescue.
