Mary C. (Burgmaier) Block, 81, of Dubuque passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Friday, March 9, 2018 at Holy Spirit Parish-Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Family will greet friends 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service 3860 Asbury Rd with a 6:30 pm Scripture Service. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mary was born July 10, 1936 in Platteville, Wisconsin the daughter of John and Frances (Kass) Burgmaier. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy. Mary married Donald R. Block on February 8, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; he passed on December 22, 2005. She was a cook at the family restaurants and a homemaker. Mary enjoyed baking, gardening, spending time with family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Chicago Cubs Baseball, and BINGO. She really looked forward to listening to the Big Broadcast on Sunday night, and had many of her own radio shows on tape that she enjoyed listening to. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.

Survivors include her children, Donald J. Block, Daniel J. (Barb) Block, John M. (Dawn) Block, and Christine (Bill) Gross; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren (one on the way in June); and a sister, Hilda Zenner.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
