Paul Schadler

Paul Schadler, 76, of Dubuque, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at home.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, where the vigil rite will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Father Dennis Quint celebrating the Funeral Mass. The Committal Rite will be celebrated at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Paul was born February 2, 1949 in Dubuque, the son of Marvin and Viola (Manders) Schadler. He married Cindy Schmit on May 3, 1986 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church.

Raised in a devoted Catholic family, Paul took his faith seriously by living a very humble and simple life, spending many hours in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, attending daily Mass, and participating in silent weekend retreats at the Monastery. He enjoyed cross country skiing, bicycling, fishing, and gardening with his friends and family.

Paul is survived by two sons, Nick Schadler, of Dyersville, and Mike Schadler, of Dubuque; his wife, Cindy Schadler, of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Nolan Pike, Nicholas Jr., Maryana, and Henry Schadler; two siblings, Karen Osterberger and Jerry Schadler, both of Dubuque; and best friends, Ozzie and Bill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bob (Bonnie) Schadler; and his brother-in-law, David Osterberger.

Memorials may be made to Power of Prayer Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, and Mary’s Inn.
