Rev. Leonard H. Aurich
Rev. Leonard Henry Aurich, 94, a resident of Luther Manor, was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Leonard was born on January 16th, 1930 to Edwin and Martha (Pagels) Aurich, Potter, NE. He was baptized into Christ on January 26, 1930 and confirmed in the faith May 28, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Potter, NE. Leonard’s confirmation verse is:
Romans 1:16. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.
June 3, 1951 he was united in Holy Matrimony with Ruth Lucille Ehlen of Brighton CO. Leonard and Ruth moved to Springfield, IL where Leonard entered the Seminary and graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in 1957.
He served as a faithful pastor of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for over 40 years. He served congregations in Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri. Leonard always spoke of his hope in Christ. He loved to recite:
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been save through faith, And that not of yourselves; It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, October 28th, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church followed by the funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. A livestream of the service can be viewed at www.egelhofsiegertcasper.com.
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Concordia, MO next to his wife, Ruth Lucille Aurich.
He is survived by his children; Charlene (Jim) Heins of Longmont, CO, Dr. Lawrence Aurich of Flagstaff, AZ, Kathy (Duane) Kramer of Cascade, IA, Dean (Becky) Aurich of Mayer, MN, Deborah (Grant) Schmidt of Norfolk, NE, and Janice (Gene) Brooks of Seward, NE, Connie (Wingate) and Jim Pettit, of St. Louis, MO, and Bob and Chris Wingate of Independence, MO.
He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives Ruth (Ehlen) of 39 years and Dorotha (Wingate) of 17 years. And by his brothers Edgar and Ronald and sisters Lola, Fern and Ada.
