Rex I. Lightle

Rex I. Lightle passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice House.
Rex was born December 8, 1942 in Griggsville, IL. to Phyllis and Ted Lightle.
He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1961 where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Rose Ann Beau. They were married for 53 years.
Rex was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was very proud of his service. Rex attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the Kansas City Art Institute before he started his career as a graphic designer. Among the companies he worked for were WDAF and Valentine-Redford. Rex worked as a Senior Graphic Designer at Hallmark Cards for 27 years before retiring.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Toni.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann, 2 children, Kimberly Staples (Kevin), Tara Barnes (Michael) and 4 grandchildren, Ali Staples, Emily Staples, Maddie Barnes and Kate Barnes. He is also survived by two brothers, Gary Lightle and Richard Lightle.
Rex enjoyed creating a beautiful yard, spending time with his family, playing cards, and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. One of his favorite things to do was exploring the country on long road trips and making friends with everyone he met.
The family would like to express our appreciation to the staff at Johnson County DaVita Dialysis for their loving care and attention. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation.
A gathering for friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 27, from 2-4 p.m. at Sylvester Powell Community Center, 6200 Martway St., Mission, Ks. 66202. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.CremationCenterKC.com
