Scott David Bell, 57, of Peosta, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 5, 2025, after a yearlong battle with glioblastoma.

Visitation for Scott will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Reiff Funeral Home in Peosta, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m.   There will be no visitation at the funeral home, prior to the funeral.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Scott will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta, Iowa, with Msgr. James Miller presiding.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Centralia, Iowa with full military honors afforded by the Epworth American Legion Post #650 and the Centralia Am Vets Post #13.

Scott was born on May 27, 1968, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Dave Bell and Lynda (Murwin) Klosterman. He grew up in Dubuque and graduated from Hempstead High School. After graduation, he proudly served four years in the United States Air Force.

Scott retired from Morrison Brothers in 2025, where he worked for 20 years. He was a dedicated employee and took pride in his work and the friendships he made there.

Scott married Deb Riesberg on May 2, 1998, at St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. They were blessed with two children, Justin and Becca, who brought him immense joy and pride.

In his free time, Scott loved spending countless hours in his yard and garden. He enjoyed watching things grow and took great pride in creating a space that reflected his hard work and care. Scott was a handyman and was always doing projects around the house.  Scott’s family and friends meant the world to him. He loved the neighborhood parties, shooting pool, fishing, and campfires.

Scott will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strong work ethic, and his love for the simple pleasures in life.

He is survived by his wife, Deb, his children, Justin and Becca all of Peosta, IA, his mom and step-father Lynda and Tony Klosterman, mother and father-in law, Sarge and Mary Lynn Riesberg, siblings, Laura (Billy) Holt, and Leslie (Tony) Guler, sister and brother in laws, Joan (Todd) Bindel, Jeff (Renee) Riesberg, Danielle (Michael) Edwards, his aunt Debby Nelson and uncle Mike (Carol) Murwin, and many nieces, nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Dave Bell, in 2013.

The family would like to thank Mercy One, Medical Associates, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic, Mayo Hospital, the VA, Hospice of Dubuque and his special caretaker, Angela.

The family has established a Scott D. Bell Memorial fund in lieu of flowers.
