Sister Gertrude Ann Sullivan, BVM

Sister Gertrude Ann Sullivan, BVM, 89, of 1050 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, died Monday, March 11, 2019, at Marian Hall.

Visitation will be from 9-10:15 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019, in the Marian Hall Chapel. Sharing of Memories will be at 10:15 a.m., followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.

In Dubuque, Sister Gertrude Ann was an associate education professor, vice president for academic affairs and academic dean at Clarke University and a teacher at St. Anthony ES. She served as administrator, curriculum director and/or teacher in West Hempstead, N.Y.; Tempe, Ariz.; and Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. She was a diocesan curriculum director and a national curriculum consultant in San Diego, Calif.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1929, in Milwaukee, to William & Gertrude Byrne Sullivan. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1948, from St. Robert Parish, Milwaukee. She professed first vows March 19, 1951 and final vows on Aug. 15, 1956.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by cousins and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 70 years.
