Terrance Howard Monahan

Terrance (Terry/Monk) Howard Monahan, 74, of East Dubuque passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Raphael’s Cathedral in Dubuque, with Fr. Greg Bahl officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 and from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where the parish scripture service will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and members of the East Dubuque Volunteer Fire Dept. will meet at 6:00 p.m. Thursday.
Terry was born on November 28, 1943 in Hazel Green, Wisconsin to Howard and Gayle (Edmonds) Monahan. He married Celia A. Lewis on January 15, 1966 at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque, He graduated from Galena High School in 1961.
Terry worked at John Deere – Dubuque Works for 40 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed playing baseball and softball in his younger years, playing golf after retirement, and spending time with his family.
Terry was a long-time member of the East Dubuque Volunteer Fire Department and the East Dubuque High School Warrior Athletic Booster Club. He was also a member of St. Raphael’s Cathedral.
Surviving are his mother Gayle Monahan of Galena; his wife, Celia of East Dubuque, four children, Kelly (Steve) Funke of Peoria, IL, Mark (Julie) Monahan of East Dubuque, Jay (Pam) Monahan of Metamora, OH and Pat (Cheri) Monahan of Hiawatha, IA; twelve grandchildren, Megan and Sarah Funke; Ryan, Tyler, Alec and Carlie Monahan; Taylor and Bailey Monahan; Erin and Kyle Monahan and Allie and Hannah Cahill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard.
