Zada P. Maiden

Zada P. Maiden, 82, of Dubuque, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Finley Hospital.

Private services will be held at Linwood Cemetery. Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is entrusted with arrangements.

Zada was born August 15, 1935 in Fort Wayne, IN, the daughter of Earl and Mary Shively. She married Benjamin “Bud” Maiden in 1964. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2011.

Zada was proud to be one of the original thirteen women hired at John Deere Dubuque Works, and retired after 27 years of service. She was a member of UAW Local #94, and served on many committees and boards throughout the years.

Zada enjoyed going to lunch with friends, playing bingo, crochet, macramé, canning and baking. Her lawn and landscaping were her pride and joy, and she was meticulous in caring for her home. She loved spending time at the cottage in Guttenberg where she and Bud fished.

Zada was a dedicated homemaker, and spending time with family and friends was everything to her. Holidays at Zada’s were a special time, and she would spend hours on her beautifully wrapped gifts with handmade bows and table décor. No matter what Zada was doing, she always put her heart and soul into it.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Linda Johnson, Michael Giellis, and Mark (Marisol) Maiden; her best friends, Barb Hackbarth, Vicky Nauman, , and Linda Ruble; her grandchildren, Benjamin Mark Bender, Darby Boettcher, Amber Vaske, Shawn Giellis, Ky Giellis, McKenna Giellis, Andrea Cardenas, and Benjamin Max Maiden; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heather.
