Richard E. Maus

On June 10, 1954, Richard E. Maus, was the fourth born child to Al & Annette (Otto) Maus in Dubuque, Iowa.  Lovingly referred to as “Ricky” by his parents and “Rick” by all others.  Another euchre partner was needed and Rick was called home on October 12, 2025, after suffering a massive stroke in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 71.

Rick married his high school sweetheart, Ginny Vanderbilt in Dubuque 51 years ago on Oct 19th.

Dad & Grandpa were proud titles Rick carried dearly with Rick’s son, Michael Maus & Grandson, Jacob Maus.  They were blessed to have such a great role model.

If there was something that needed fixing, repaired, built or created, Rick could do it. Rick also loved showing his grandson a new project weekly.  Rick was also an encyclopedia of knowledge and proficient with any and every subject you could think of.

In the 80’s Rick (& family) moved to Omaha to begin a career as a mechanical engineer and a parts designer for the railroad.  He always had a Diet Coke with him and on his desk.  Retirement was to begin for Rick at the end of November, 2025.  He couldn’t sit still long enough to retire before this target date.

On November 1, 2025, a memorial service will take place in the chapel at Mt Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, Iowa.  Friends & Family can meet with Ginny, Michael & Jacob after 9:00am.  The service will begin at 9:45am with entombment immediately after the memorial at Mt Calvary.

Those left to share Rick’s memory include Ginny, Michael & Jacob Maus.
