Andy was born on March 28, 1964, the son of James H. and Ruth (Grobstick) Roling. He was the second child of five. Andy was raised in rural Dubuque. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, where he played football. He then attended Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in engineering. While at Iowa State, Andy met his future wife Laura Schrimper. They later divorced but remained friends until his passing.
Andy and Laura were blessed with two sons: Trent and Reece. They brought joy to his life. He stayed active with his sons, attending their athletic events throughout high school and college. His pride in his boys and all they’d accomplished was unquestionable. His proudest moment was the recent birth of his first grandson, Parker James Roling. Andy enjoyed watching sporting events and rarely missed a game played by his beloved Cyclones or Vikings. He was a long time NASCAR fan, cheering for Matt Kenseth until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and golfing when time permitted, and a good conversation over a cold beer.
Those left to cherish Andy’s memory include his sons Trent (Alexis) Roling and Reece (Kaitlyn) Roling, his grandson Parker Roling, his mother Ruth Roling, siblings Annette (Ken) Kress, Russ (Carrie Schiro) Roling, Peggy (Ken) Tully, and Dean Roling, and Andy’s former wife Laura Roling. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father James, his grandparents Alphonse and Alberta Roling and Wilbur and Coletta Grobstick, several aunts and uncles, and his beloved dog, Jake.
In lieu of flowers, an Andrew Roling Memorial Fund has been established.
