Ardell L. Hoff
Ardell L. Hoff, 91, formerly of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away on July 7, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital in Dubuque, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue, with an 8:00 a.m. wake service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.
Ardell was born September 16, 1933, in Bellevue, the son of Elmer and Rose (Bechen) Hoff. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1952. Ardell married Marian Wubben on September 27, 1958, at Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Menominee, Illinois. Ardell retired from John Deere Dubuque Works in 1992 after 33 years of service. After his retirement, Ardell worked for Petesch Construction installing windows. Ardell enjoyed engaging in conversation and helping others, especially through Young Living Essential Oils. His passions included traveling, working on cars and his Farmall tractor, attending air shows, and photography. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Marian; children, Steve (Chris) Hoff, Sharon (Brent) Scholtes, Sheila (Doug) Hefel, and Stuart Hoff; grandchildren, Brandon (Carrie), Alison (Jesse), Britni (Eric), and Audrey; a great-granddaughter, Lila; sisters, Phyllis Borcherding and Marilyn Wubben; brothers in-law, John Wubben and Joseph (Kris) Wubben; sisters in-law, Darlene Wubben, Lois Wubben, Rosella Hying, Agnes (Larry) Ter Maat, and JoAnn Winn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ardell was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Rose (Bechen) Hoff; father and mother in-law, Paul and Mary (Berger) Wubben; brothers in-law, Merlyn Borcherding, Donald Wubben, Bill Scharpf, Ralph Wubben, Ray Wubben, Ron Hying, James Wubben, Phil Winn; sisters in-law, Darlene Scharpf, Leota McQuaid, Elaine Semrow, Eileen Jaeger; and nephews in-law, Michael McQuaid and Frankie Robinson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kirkendall, his nurse Kate, Fr. Phillip Gibbs and Deacon Jim Schmidt from Resurrection Church, and the chaplains, doctors, nurses and staff at UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital for their care and concern during this time.
