Barbara A. Dague
Barbara Ann “Barb” Dague, 80, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at home.
A public graveside service and burial celebrating her life will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. A public visitation will be held from 4 to 6 P.M., Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
Barbara Ann was born on March 28, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Elinor and Arlon Massey. She attended Maquoketa High School. She married Rex Allen Dague on January 20, 1972, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2017.
“Barb” had worked various jobs throughout her life including Clinton Engines, Swift & Co., Big Bob’s Restaurant, Jensen’s Briarwood Care Center, Pacific Coast Feather, Stetson Co., Wady’s, and Squiers Manor. She retired in 2017 at the age of 76 years old!
“Barb” had served as a former city councilperson for Hurstville, Iowa, and was an avid supporter of the Friends of Jackson County Humane Society. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, camping, fishing, and listening to the scanner. She especially loved dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was our Angel on earth, and now our Angel in Heaven.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Marvin (Lori) Massey of Maquoketa, IA, and Wendy (Jeff) Specht of Maquoketa, IA; 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, sister Mary Louise Brown, and her husband Rex Allen Dague.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Barbara Ann “Barb” Dague memorial fund has been established.
