Barbara S. Stecklein
Barbara S. Stecklein, 91, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at River Bend Retirement Community in Cascade, Iowa, surrounded by her family.
Visitation for Barbara will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Barbara at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.
She was born September 16, 1934 in Worthington, Iowa, daughter of Clarence “Chop” and Alice (Schlick) Jaeger. She received her education at St. Paul’s Catholic School in Worthington. On May 22, 1954 she was united in marriage to Clement H. Stecklein at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2013.
She loved to play cards with family and friends, and often scratch lottery tickets. She enjoyed life on the farm and working the farm, and driving tractor. She also worked at the former Cascade Forestry. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, so she always looked so forward to Corn Days and Christmas. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, watching them grow, she was so proud of their achievements.
She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa.
She is survived by six children, Dan Stecklein of Centennial, CO, Deborah (Marvin) Kleitsch of Monticello, IA, Diana (Dennis) Flannagan of Hopkinton, IA, Donna Yarolem, Dale Stecklein and Dennis (Jennie) Stecklein all of Cascade, IA; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; her sister, Sandra Kuehn of FL; her sisters-in-law, Shirley Hoffmann of Cascade, IA and Judi (Al) Westhoff of Portland, OR, Marian Stecklein of Bellevue, IA and Shirley Stecklein of Monticello, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; , her brothers Tom (Karen) Jaeger and Dave (Sharon) Jaeger; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed Stecklein, Lloyd Stecklein and Roland (Theresa) Stecklein, Mary Eileen Stecklein, Madonna (Bill Otting & Roger Tucker) Otting-Tucker, Marina (Elmer) Lehmann and Jane (Jim) Goldirsch; two brothers-in-law, Rodney Kuehn and Eugene Hoffmann; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Stecklein; a grandson-in-law, Jay McCabe; and a great grandchild, Ivy Stecklein.
