Barbara Smith
Barbara “Barb” Smith, 79, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Maquoketa, Iowa, after battling progressive dementia.
Barb was born on July 6, 1946, to Bart and Doris Crimmins. She grew up surrounded by family and carried a spirit of kindness, positivity, and resilience throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Doris Crimmins, and her brother, Mike Crimmins.
Barb is survived by her children: Jane (Wayne) Krause, Terri (Greg Conger) Weber, Christie (Mark) Meinholz, and Shane (Ann) Weber. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Lindsey, Jaley, Taya, Mila, Dante, Jacob, Justin, Jayln, Jeremy, and Zachary, and two great-grandchildren: Eliana and Noah, her sisters: Jan Schafer and Linda Nachtmann, and nieces and nephews.
Barb enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time with friends, camping, playing cards, and sewing. Known for her happy and positive spirit and faith in God, Barb had a gift for finding the bright side of any situation. Even when circumstances were less than ideal—like getting lost in the woods at night—she could turn the moment into an adventure and a memory her children would never forget.
Her warmth, laughter, and ability to find joy in everyday moments will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. At Peace Cremation Services have been provided by Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.
Barb’s family will forever cherish the memories she created and the love she shared throughout her life.
