Beverly J. (Merz) McDermott, 84, of Dubuque, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, surrounded by her family following a brief illness.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Friday, May 23, 2025 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Funeral Service for Bev will be 1:30 pm Friday, May 23, 2025, at Linwood Cemetery with Mr. Mike Lightfoot officiating.

Beverly was born on January 7, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver and Mary F. (Garrett) Merz.

Bev spent most of her working career at ServPro of Dubuque.

She had a special love for Elvis and Coca-Cola and was always on the lookout for memorabilia.

Survivors include her eight children: Teresa (Tom) Theisen, Sandy Neuhaus (Terry Fortmann), Joe (Kerri) McDermott, Jackie Seikola (Tom Friederick), Tom (Sheonna) McDermott, Bill (Colleen) McDermott, Dan (Melissa) McDermott, and Edward McDermott; 32 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and seven siblings: Diane Bradbery, Donny Merz, Janice Peil, Sue (Vince) Lopez, Terry (Carol) Merz, Nancy (Dennis) Hermsen, and Dennis Merz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Ernzen; one son, Jimmy McDermott; three sons-in-law, Axel Seikola, Jim Ernzen, and Dean Neuhaus; and six siblings: Gloria Cockrell, Oliver Merz Jr., Joe Merz, Betty Vogt, Carol Henkel, and Bob Kirkpatrick.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Dubuque and the doctors and nurses at MercyOne Dubuque for the compassionate care they provided to Bev.
