Blythe E. Carlson
Blythe E. Carlson, 41, of Decorah, Iowa, formerly of rural Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away March 1, 2026 in Decorah.
Blythe Elyse Carlson was born October 12, 1984, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lowell and Brenda (McClaflin) Carlson. She graduated from Andrew High School and went on to graduate from Luther College in Decorah. Blythe worked in patient admissions for WinnMed in Decorah. She previously worked for Solventum (formerly 3M Health Care) in Minneaplolis, MN, and for the Vesterheim Norwegian Museum in Decorah.
Blythe loved nature and being outdoors. She loved to go camping and hiking amongst the trees. Blythe was also an avid vegetable and flower gardener, and cooking was among her many talents. Blythe was very politically minded and was a supporter and frequent listener of National Public Radio, as well as Iowa Public Television.
Blythe is survived and lovingly remembered by her parents, Lowell and Brenda Carlson of rural Maquoketa, IA; siblings Peter (Kayla) Carlson also of rural Maquoketa, and Heather (Scott Schroeder) Carlson of Yakima, WA; nieces Zelma Carlson and Claire Schroeder; nephew Axel Carlson; and partner Dan Morse of Minneapolis.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, March 16, 2026, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. There is no visitation. Burial will be at the Andrew, Iowa Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to National Public Radio, Iowa Public Television, or the Hurstville Interpretive Center.
