Bonnabell A. Creger

Bonnabell A. Creger, 89, of Baldwin, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.

Bonnabell Alice Kunde was born on December 26, 1936, in Grand Mound, Iowa, and was lovingly raised by her parents, August and Alice Mae (Schrader) Kunde, along with her beloved twin sister, Lulabell.  She was a 1954 graduate of Maquoketa High School and met the love of her life, Lowell Lester Creger, at the Hayes Café in Maquoketa.  They were married on February 1, 1958, in Maquoketa, Iowa, and the rest is history with over 65 years of marriage!

Before her marriage, Bonnabell worked at Schultz’s Dime Store and the Green Mill Café, both in Maquoketa. After marrying Lowell, she embraced the role of a housewife with grace and joy. She raised a loving family and partnered with her husband in farming, skillfully milking cows and occasionally taking the wheel of the tractor!

Bonnabell’s creative spirit shone brightly through her hobbies.  She sewed and painted and would make wedding cakes for family and friends. She was an avid basketball fan, especially watching her sons’ high school and college games.

Those left to honor her memory include children, Lou Ann (Dan) Arensdorf of Dubuque, IA, Lynn (Angel) Creger of Delmar, IA, Danny (Johanna) Creger of St. Donatus, IA, and Ricky Creger of Cottage Grove, WI; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Merwin Koch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lowell, siblings Harry (Anna Mae) Kunde, Viola (Bill) Scott, Hazel Kunde, Bernice Kunde, Harold (Lois) Kunde, Ronald Kunde, Donald (Joann) Kunde, Edna Mae (Dudley) McDonald, Annabell (Warren) Haas, Earl (Dolly) Kunde and her twin Lulubell Koch, mother-in-law and father-in-law Viola and Lester Creger, and in-laws Larry Creger, and Marvel Benischek.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 11 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin, Iowa.
