Brian J. Marceau, 73, of Davenport, and formerly of Maquoketa, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 25, 2026, at Harmony Davenport. He was born on July 24, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Richard Edward and Donna Rae (Belitz) Marceau.

Brian grew up in Minneapolis through the eighth grade before moving with his family to Fox Point, Wisconsin, where he completed his high school education. He went on to attend the University of Iowa for two years and later continued his studies at Clarke University in Dubuque, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in Graphic Arts. Brian married Sherri Moler on June 10, 1988, in Maquoketa, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Daniel, and Anna.

Following college, Brian began his professional career as a Graphic Designer for Clarke University in Dubuque, where he worked for three years. While he was skilled in design, his true calling was music, and from an early age he was drawn to it with a passion that never faded. He became a well-known musician in the area, performing both as a solo artist and with several local groups, including the Great Plains Gas Band, Saddle Tramp, Annie and Brian, and HTM (Hoffmann, Troy, and Marceau). Music was not only a vocation for Brian, but also a lifelong source of joy, expression, and connection with others.

In addition to his work as a musician, Brian owned and operated Marceau Piano Service from 1991 until his retirement.

Brian will be remembered for his love of music, his creative spirit, and the many ways he shared his talents with others. He had a gift for bringing warmth and enjoyment to those around him.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Daniel (Jessica) Marceau of Eldridge, IA, and Anna (Isabelle) Marceau of Middleton, WI; 2 grandchildren, Auden and Felicity Marceau; and siblings, Kirk (Beth) Marceau of Coeur d’Alene, ID, David Marceau of Post Falls, ID, Paul (Dawn) Marceau of Marco Island, FL, and Jim Marceau of Poplar Bluff, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents.

To honor his memory, a Celebration of Life will be held at Burkey’s Bar in Dubuque on August 29th from 3-7 PM. Live music by Three Quarters Buzz, including Rick Hoffmann and Denny Troy. If you are unable to attend, please honor his memory by tipping the next street musician you come across.
