Carl was born on February 18, 1933, in Dubuque, the son of John and Cecelia (Roediger) Lange. He attended and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1951. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. On August 29, 1959, he married Mary Regan in Rickardsville, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2020. Carl was a devoted member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Carl and Mary shared a love of travel, exploring destinations throughout the United States and Canada, with a special fondness for the National Parks. For more than 40 years, they enjoyed camping at Paradise Valley Campground in Garnavillo, Iowa, creating many cherished memories together.

Known for his gift of storytelling and his quick wit, Carl was always ready with a good joke. He never missed a good game of euchre, and rarely turned down a Brandy Ol’ Fashioned. He treasured fishing trips with his family in Minnesota and Wisconsin. His pride and joy were his flower and vegetable gardens, and he dedicated 35 years as a volunteer at the Dubuque Arboretum. Carl was also a member of the Dubuque Moose Lodge and retired from John Deere in 1985. A devoted sports fan, Carl cheered on the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, and enthusiastically supported anyone playing against the Green Bay Packers.

Carl is survived by his children, Mike Lange, Mark Lange, Ron Lange, Rose (Steve) Schulz, Donna (Dave) Wolter, and Doug (Chris) Lange; grandchildren, Kevin (Taylor) Wolter, Kyle (Lacey) Wolter, Stephanie Schulz, Jared Schulz, and Grace Lange; great grandchildren, Vivian and Vince Wolter, and Holden and Emersyn Wolter; his brothers, Marty Lange and Fr.
