Carol A. Brimeyer
Carol Ann Brimeyer, 82, of Dubuque, died Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Dubuque.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, October 30, 2023, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Funeral Service for Carol will be 10:30 am Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ with Morgan Frazer and Rev. Dianne Grace officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque.
Carol was born October 6, 1941, in Dubuque, the daughter of George Edward and Pearl Marie Hartman Doerr. On June 3, 1961, she married John J. “J.B.” Brimeyer at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He died November 7, 2018.
She was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School.
Carol worked for the Dubuque Community School District in the library before retiring to watch her grandchildren.
She was a member of Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ and a member of the church’s women’s fellowship group. She was an avid boater and particularly enjoyed trips down the Mississippi River. She was an adoring grandmother who was active in her grandchildren’s lives, and was a library volunteer at local schools where she read to kids. In her free time, Carol loved watching ice skating, as she had grown up ice skating at Comisky Park. She met her husband at the Eagle Point Roller Rink. They enjoyed car rides looking at Fall foliage and sitting by the river. Above all, Carol treasured spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn (Randy Lowenberg) Connolly-Lowenberg of Cross Plains, WI, and Denise (Jim) Schemmel of Sherrill, IA; nine grandchildren, Meagan (Adrian) Lamp, Lyndsay (George) Juno, Ryan (Jessica) Lowenberg, Paige (Troy) Thoma, Devin Lowenberg, Zachary (Cassandra) Connolly, Shane Sullivan, Jordan (Cassidy Olberding) Schemmel, Cole Connolly; 13 great-grandchildren, Amara, Jackson, Beckett, Scarlett, Jameson, Emery, Amelia, Maya, Cameron, Anika, Emmett, Ella, and Westley; and one sister-in-law, Sally Doerr.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Bob (Helen) Doerr, Merlin (Barb) Doerr, Lavonne (Dwayne) Marshall, Ed Doerr, Ron and Camellia Doerr, and brother-in-law and sister in-law, Sam and JoAnn McPoland.
