Carol Elaine Ulvestad, 91, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at Bishop Drumm in Johnston, Iowa.

Carol was born on July 25, 1934, to Clifford and Eleanor Ulvestad in Fillmore, MN.  The family moved to Maquoketa, Iowa, where Carol spent most of her youth.

After high school, Carol went on to pursue a degree in education.  She taught kindergarten in the Davenport school district for over 30 years.  Carol was a natural with her enthusiasm and ability to make learning fun.

In Davenport, Carol loved spending time with friends, listening to music, and dancing.  Those amazing friends were like family to Carol and continued to be a very important part of her life through the years.  Carol also had a very kind and gentle side, taking in wounded ducks and nurturing them back to health as well as giving food and shelter to stray cats.

Carol is survived by her brother, Gene Ulvestad, her nephew and nieces, Phil Ulvestad (Patti), Julie Chafin (Bill), and Angela Newton (Tom), as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Doris Ulvestad.

We will gather for a Celebration of Life on August 15, 2025 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa from 2-4pm.  A private family burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your local animal shelter.
