Carol J. Yeager

Carol J. Yeager, 82, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 8, 2025.

Carol Jean Clark was born on December 28, 1942, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lloyd Howard and Bernice Glenn (Haylock) Clark.  She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School and then attended the University of Iowa for one year.  She married Merlyn James Yeager on April 8, 1962, at First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Carol had first worked at the local ASCS Office, and later for the Maquoketa Schools Lunch Program.  She most notably worked for over 30 years as a secretary for People’s Natural Gas in Maquoketa, and from 1960 to 1974, she also helped with the family business, Yeager’s TV and Appliance.

Carol was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.  She enjoyed snow skiing, gardening, boating on the river, flying and traveling with Merlyn, and watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Merlyn Yeager of Maquoketa, IA; children, David Yeager of Maquoketa, IA, and Michael Yeager of Maquoketa, IA; 4 grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah, Jenna, and Caitlin; and 5 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her mother Bernice, her father Lloyd, stepmother Barbara, an infant daughter Susan, and her son James “Jay” Yeager.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
