Carolu Digman Welbes, 87, formerly of Dubuque, died on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Woodlands Creek Senior Living, Clive, IA.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:15 am on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Carolu will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with  Father Steven Rosonke as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.

Carolu was born May 10, 1937, in Sioux City, the daughter of Andrew H. and Luan (Schemmel) Digman. On June 20, 1959, she married James H. “Jim” Welbes in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2024.

She received her Master Degree in Dance. She was the founder, operator and dance instructor of the Dubuque Dance Studio and Gymnastics Club. She retired after 43 years of owning her own business.

Carolu is survived by her daughter, Candace (Ronald) Winters of Urbandale.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
