Charlene A. Schrodt

Charlene Ann (Caspersen) Schrodt, age 74, of Dubuque, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones after a brief illness.  To celebrate Charlene’s life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.  Following cremation, burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Charlene was born in Mason City, Iowa, on December 12, 1950, to Leola (Cimmiyoti) Brady and Irvin Caspersen.  Charlene graduated from Cascade High School and proudly earned her degree in Social Work from the University of Dubuque.  She retired from the Dubuque Visiting Nurse Association in 2015, where she dedicated her career and retirement to helping the community’s most vulnerable populations.  Known for her endless compassion, her humor, and her joy, Charlene brightened the lives of all that knew her.  She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was a passionate supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bulls.  She spent her life caring for others and will be remembered for the love that she gave to all that knew her.

Katelyn (Ben), Hampton (Kaitlyn), Rachel (Michael), Ethan (Sarah), Natalee, August, Ambrose and Prynne;

5 great-grandchildren,
Madix, Stella, Wells, Ivy and Walter;

2 brothers,
Gary (Nancy) Caspersen
and Ron Caspersen;

a sister-in-law,
Linda Caspersen;

and many friends and family that will cherish her memory forever.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Caspersen and Leola Brady; her step-father, Patrick Brady; a brother, Rick Caspersen; a sister-in-law, Linda Caspersen; a nephew, Bradley Pate; a niece, Kelsey Caspersen; and a great-nephew, Matthew Crary.

Charlene’s family would like to thank UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital for their care and compassion in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dubuque Visiting Nurse Association in Charlene’s name.  Cards and memorials may also be mailed to Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque, Iowa 52001, Attn. Charlene Schrodt Family.
