To celebrate Charlie’s life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m., until the time of services at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Behr Funeral Home.

Charlie was born on April 24, 1935, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Wilfred Louis and Irene Anna (Manahl) Leppert.

Charlie was born and raised in Dubuque and graduated from Loras Academy in 1953, before joining the National Guard serving for 10 years. Charlie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judith E. Barry, on September 21, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church, and the two have been blessed with 61 years and 8 children together. He was an extremely hard worker who was employed with Trausch Bakery for 13 years, before going to work at the Dubuque John Deere Works and the Dubuque Packing Company, simultaneously, to provide for his family, retiring from John Deere on January 31, 1997, after 33 years. Charlie loved working, but when he did find some free time in his days, he loved caring for his yard, or loading up the station wagon for a camping trip and spending some quality time sitting around the campfire with the Judy and the kids. We are deeply saddened at the loss of our wonderful, hard working, husband, father and grandfather, but are grateful for all of the memories made, and the life lessons he has taught us throughout the years.
