Charles J. Pearson

Charles “Chuck” James Pearson, 91, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 31, 2024.

The Funeral Service for Charles will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, with Rev. Dianne Grace officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Charles was born October 13,1932, in West Terre Haute, IN, the son of Raymond Roy and Margaret Thelma (Wright) Pearson. On June 6, 1959, he married Annabelle (Miller) Pearson in Rock Island, IL.

He was a graduate of Lane Technical Institute in Indiana and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Charles was a structural engineer at John Deere both in Moline, IL and Dubuque, IA. After retiring, he worked for Bradley Iron Works in Dubuque.

Charles enjoyed golfing, baseball (Phillies), casinos, mushroom hunting, fishing and spending the winters in Phoenix. He could often be found at Dotties in Dubuque or 40th Street Cafe in Phoenix for breakfast bantering with both staff and patrons. His family and friends will truly miss his entertaining stories and quick wit.

Survivors include one son, Mike (Kelly) Pearson of Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Barb (Walt) Thielen of Phoenix, AZ, and Diane (John) McLaughlin of Bettendorf, IA; seven grandchildren, Rachael (Cory) Wilson, Meredith (Frank) Pearson, Brooklyn (Sam) Pearson, Jake (Marissa) Thielen, Tori (Ethan) Casterton, Johnathon McLaughlin, and Dalton (Lauren) McLaughlin; and nine great-grandchildren, Everett, Willa, Holden, Fisher, Oliver, Lucas, Eleanor, Brooklyn, and Millie. He is also survived by a brother, Kenny (Donna) Pearson of West Terre Haute, IN and a sister Joyce (Ed) Bose of Terre Haute, IN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son, Alan Pearson, and his brother Jerry (Mary Ruth) Pearson.

The family would like to thank dad’s best friend, George Enderson, for his compassion and being his partner in crime for over 50 years.
