Charles Pierce

Charles “Chuck” Pierce, 78, of Cascade Iowa, passed away, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at his home in Cascade, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Chuck may call from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. and a KC Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends and relatives may also call after 9 a.m., Monday, March 26th at the Funeral Home.

Services for Chuck will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa with Rev. Douglas Loecke Presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

He was born March 9, 1940 in Temple Hill, Iowa, son of Charles and Ruth (Ball) Pierce. He received his education in the Temple Hill area schools. On June 20, 1970 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Lewis in Cascade, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2013.

Chuck farmed his entire life in the Temple Hill area. He enjoyed going to tractor pulls and visiting with family and friends. He truly enjoyed his time spent with the grandchildren and the traditional family get togethers, he took extra efforts to make sure everyone was at the Christmas eve get together.

He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade and the Cascade Knights of Columbus-Council #930.

He is survived by one brother, Chancy (Roberta) Pierce of Montana; one sister, Mary (Herb) Heim of Dyersville, IA; two step sons, Donnie (Rosie) Topping of Onslow, IA and Denny (Rose) Topping of Dubuque, IA; one daughter-in-law, Joanie Topping of Cascade, IA; 11 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Kenny Lewis and Terry (Linda) Lewis both of Monticello, IA, 1 sister-in-law, Donna (Steve) Koob of Monticello, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Thomas Topping; 4 brothers in law, Ron Egger, Carl Gudenkauf, Carl Merfeld and Maynard Lewis; and 3 sisters-in-law, Mary Gudenkauf, Peggy Merfeld and JoAnn Egger.
