Charlotte Ann McCloy, 80, of Monmouth, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 13, 2022, at Accura Healthcare in Cascade, Iowa.

A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Monday, December 19, 2022, at Carson’s.  Burial will be at the Monmouth, Iowa, Cemetery.

Charlotte Ann Behrend was born on December 4, 1942, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Leonard and Geraldine (Clapp) Behrend.  She was a 1961 graduate of Maquoketa High School.  She married Allen Lee McCloy on November 17, 1963, in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Charlotte worked in Maquoketa at Ben Franklin and WAKA Restaurant baking pies.  She was an accomplished seamstress and created wedding dresses for family and friends. She enjoyed bowling and played on leagues for years.  She served as treasurer for the local AMVETS chapter. She was passionate about all things Walt Disney.  Charlotte dedicated her life to caring for others.  She was the true “Mother Goose”.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Lanette (Kelly) Peavey of Agency, IA, and LeeAnn (Jon) Reiss of Anamosa, IA; 5 grandchildren, Lee, Drew, Kinnick, Carver and Everett; 2 step-grandchildren, Ashly and T; brothers, Bill (Ann) Behrend of Sioux Falls, SD, and Rollie (Kay) Behrend of Calamus, IA; sister, Betty (Rich) Priester of Spring Branch, TX; and a sister-in-law, Carla Behrend of DeWitt, IA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allen on December 22, 2021, and a brother Lou.
