Cheri Lynn Miller, 59, of Dubuque, passed away on January 12, 2026, at University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Cheri was born on August 7, 1966, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Gary Scheffert and Judith (Birch) Hitzler. A proud mother of five and grandmother to eleven, she dedicated her life to her family. She was our North Star, our greatest cheerleader and our very best friend. We will miss her daily phone calls and the quiet wisdom she shared. Her legacy lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren and the tight bond she instilled in all of her children. Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that her love remains the foundation of our family.

Cheri is survived by her children, Ryan (Heather) Miller, Marisa Miller, Lacey Miller, Sarina (Nick Larson) Miller and Angelina Miller; longtime companion, Mark Miller; grandchildren, Payton, Alivia, Ayden, Bianca, Gracie, Gavyn, Jack, Kinsley, Abraham, Evelyn, and Henry; brother Gary Scheffert; and stepfather Jim Hitzler. She also leaves behind her beloved four dogs and six cats. Her life was defined by her deep compassion for all animals. She never met a stray that she didn’t want to bring home or a creature that didn’t deserve her kindness.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her sister Sandra Donath.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the University of Wisconsin Cardiology Department and ICU for their dedicated care and compassion.
