Cheryl A. Schwind passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on March 24, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church, 4300 Asbury Rd., Dubuque, IA, on March 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Cheri was born March 23, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Charles and Leslie Hincker. She was the hub of her family. An avid reader, she honed her vocabulary, employing it for only the most esoteric crossword answers (and occasionally a few choice words for the Green Bay Packers). She had a keen eye for fashion and shared her husband’s passion for plants and flowers. She doted on her grandchildren and was always up to date on the latest book to read or pop-culture trend. Throughout the years, she was active in the church and steadfast in her faith. She leaves a legacy of love for her family, friends, and neighbors; a sharp wit; and a pie crust that will remain unmatched. May God rest her soul.

She is survived by five children: Terence (Dana), Jeff (Christina), Timothy (Martha), Elizabeth (Kenyon), and Michael (Kari), as well as thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her dog, Beau, and cat, Posey, also held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph, and her son, John Francis.

The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
