Chris was born October 28, 1971 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Harold and Joyce (Shanahan) Gibbs. He attended the Cascade High School and then Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids where he received his AAS Degree in Electronics. On October 1, 1994 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Koppes at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.
He had a very strong work ethic and it showed in everything he did. Chris farmed, a job which he truly enjoyed, especially with his father, brothers and sons Evan and Mitchell. He traveled the world as an equipment salesman for 23 years in the pork and pharmaceutical industries. He loved being in the outdoors and spent a lot of time farming and hunting with his family and friends. He had a terrific sense of humor and the gift of gab, which typically made him “The Life of the Party!” He was a great friend to so many and deeply valued the friendships he had.
Most of all Chris carried a great passion for his family, showing his love in so many ways. He loved cooking for his family even when he was not able to eat. His passing will leave a void in his family’s hearts forever. He will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rhonda Gibbs, three children, Evan (Sydney) Gibbs, Mitchell Gibbs (& friend, Keagan Moose) and Elizabeth Gibbs (& friend, Nevin Pins) all of Cascade, IA; his parents, Harold and Joyce Gibbs of Bernard, IA; his siblings, Tim (Joan) Gibbs of Zwingle, IA, Ron (Jeri) Gibbs of Decatur, TX, Keith (Carol) Gibbs of Bernard, Fr.
