Clark D. Bolsinger, 98, of Guttenberg, IA passed away at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, due to complications from congestive heart failure and pneumonia.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 10:00am to 11:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Guttenberg, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am.  Military Honors will be accorded by Guttenberg American Legion Post 373.  Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in rural Guttenberg.

Clark was born August 24, 1927, in Graham, IA, the son of Oscar and Ethel (Schrunk) Bolsinger.  He married Carla Meier on September 29, 1956.  Together they raised four children.  Clark was a proud man in all the right ways.  Proud to be a member of the 1944 State tournament runners-up Colesburg High School baseball team with his twin brother Cliff.  Proud to be a soldier in the U.S. Army and later active with the American Legion.  Proud of experiencing an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.  Proud of his work at John Deere Dubuque Works with UAW Local 94.  Proud of using his carpentry skills to enhance every home he and Carla owned as well as his children’s homes. Also, he was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Clark worked his entire life at making things easier for the people around him and was always ready to take on a new family or community project.  Clark enjoyed simple pleasures like looking out his front window as the Mississippi River flowed by; making a batch of popcorn balls or snack mix; and cheering for his Chicago Cubs and Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes, and as-of-late the Indiana Fever.

Those left to cherish Clark’s memory are his devoted wife of 69 years, Carla; his daughter, Julie (Glenn) O’Rourke; sons: John Bolsinger and Joel Bolsinger; grandsons: Brent (Jillian) O’Rourke and Matthew (Jenna) O’Rourke; and great-grandchildren: Quinn, Beckett, Eli, and Wyatt O’Rourke.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Bolsinger; brothers: Harold and Clifford; parents-in-law, Paul and Hattie (Heck) Meier; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.

The family wishes to thank the staffs at River Living Center, Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, and St. Croix Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.  He truly loved all of his caregivers.
