Cory M. Frommelt

Cory M. Frommelt, age 54, of Hazel Green, WI, completed his earthly journey suddenly on November 19, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, IA.  To honor Cory’s life, a private family Celebration of Life is being held in conjunction with his father, Roger’s service who was also sadly called home suddenly just ahead of Cory only six days earlier.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Cory’s family.

Cory was born on June 23, 1969, in Hazel Green, WI, the youngest of four children to Roger and Shirley (Speaker) Frommelt.  He was born with a twinkle in his eye that only got brighter as the years progressed.  Cory was a marine mechanic by trade and spent 20 years in the Quad Cities area running his own company, River City Marine, before moving back to Dubuque with his beautiful bride, Odetta Stark, to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He spent the most recent years of sharing his time and talents with American Marine Dubuque.

Cory enjoyed his free-time in life to the fullest as well.  His skills were endless and his affinity to help anyone with any project that came across his path was truly a trait which he found great joy in.  His love for adventure, fun, and the simple moments in life complimented his generosity perfectly.  The plans did not always have to be firmly in place, or even logical on every level in most minds, as in Cory’s mind, the opportunity to help, teach, and have a little fun along the way was the perfect blend of necessary planning in which only true success could be measured.  Cory was kind, humble, and a consummate prankster at heart.  His warm and welcoming nature came in second only to his incalculable ability to offer the best hugs to all who needed them at any given moment in life. Cory taught us how to live simply and love deeply. His love for the river was contagious to all. The smile that radiated off his face while boating was proof that all you really need to achieve happiness is sunshine, a pole to cast in the water, and a beautiful cruise on the good ol’ Mississippi. It’s beyond comprehension to our broken hearts to be able to imagine life moving forward without Cory’s bright and fun-loving spirit by our side.  We pray for peace and comfort through the difficult days ahead for all who knew and loved Cory and can only hope that his heavenly reunion with his mom and dad was a glorious one as our world merely crumbled beneath our feet.  Thank you, Cory, for reminding us continually through your words, thoughts, and actions that life is a gift to be enjoyed, treasured daily, and lived to its fullest potential whenever possible.  God bless and God speed Cory! Until we meet again, may you have fair winds and following seas.
