Darrell was born on April 18, 1949, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Louis and Delores (Knockel) Noel. He was united in marriage to Lynn White in 1976, and they recently just celebrated their 50th anniversary. Darrell worked for several companies throughout his life, including Wright Tree Service, Noel Brothers Trucking, F.N. Smith Construction, Dubuque Sand and Gravel, and River City Stone, where he retired after many years of dedicated service.
A country boy at heart, Darrell loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing, often loading up the boat to go camping or fishing. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Harley with friends. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially hosting gatherings for black powder shooting at his range. Darrell was happiest tinkering in his shed, where he could often be found fixing anything and everything with a motor.
Darrell also enjoyed caring for his property and hobby farming. When he was younger and had more energy, he planted crops on his hobby farm and took great pride in working the land. Above all, he loved being at home, surrounded by the things and people he cared about most.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lynn; step-daughter Valerie; five step-grandchildren; ten step-great grandchildren; his siblings, Dennis (Linda) Noel, and Kevin Noel; six nieces and nephews, Paul, Tammy, Bill, Josh, Tabatha, and Alycen; siblings-in-law, Dennis White and Penny White; aunts Donna (Robert) Westemeyer, and Rosie Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Delores; and brother, James “Jim” Noel.
The family would like to give a huge thank you to Mill Valley Care Center and Dr. Hunter for their amazing care.
