David Cleon Puff

David Cleon Puff, 80, of Dubuque, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20 at Church of the Nativity. Msgr. James Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, November 19 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque.

David was born February 1, 1938 in Earlville, IA, the son of Cleon and Katherine (Klaus) Puff. He married Mary Ann Grundmeyer on May 29, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Manchester, IA.

David completed his Bachelors’ in Accounting at University of Northern Iowa, and went on to earn his Masters’ in Accounting at Colorado State University in Greeley, CO.

David was a Professor of Accounting and Business Law at Loras College for 15 years. He then joined the accounting firm Nacos & Puff, where he was a partner for many years. Later, he joined the accounting firm of O’Connor Brooks.

He was a longtime member of the Serra Club, and Church of the Nativity. David greatly enjoyed investing in the stock market. His greatest joy was his family, and he loved spending time with them.

David is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Dubuque; four children, Theresa Puff of Sarasota, FL, Christine Carr of Marietta, GA, Gregory (Miho) Puff of Hong Kong, China, and Rebecca (Jeff) McComas of Woodbury, MN; seven grandchildren, Colin, Ryan, and Meghan Carr, Hunter and Reagan McComas, and Genzo and Asami Puff; and his sister, Janice (James) Grundmeyer of Manchester, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and Home Instead for their incredible, compassionate care of David.
