David J. Hastings Jr., 44, of Dubuque, passed away at home on Saturday, June 8, 2024, with his family by his side.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Dubuque Memorial Gardens.  A Celebration of Life will follow the burial and will be announced at the burial.

David was born on November 21, 1979, in Iowa City, Iowa to David Sr. and Margaret Hastings.  He went to Dubuque Senior High School.

He loved his family, friends and his best friend – his dog Bandit.  He also loved fishing and the 49ers football team.

David is survived by his dad David Hastings Sr.; sisters: Lonnie Hall, Lorie Key, LuAnn Becker, Robin Connor, Hazel (fiancé Jon Bruns) Schmidt, Debra Curiel; brothers: Leroy “Joe” (Mary) Harkey, Curtis Curiel; children: Trevor, Joseph, Julia; his fiancé Patti Jo; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret, twin brother Dean, sister Amy Scholtes, nephews: Lee, Lucas and Danny, nieces: Amanda and Christal and brother-in-law Eugene Key Sr.

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque, sisters Robin Connor and Hazel Schmidt, Dr. Herman and Staff.
