David P. McNally
David P. McNally, 87, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024 at his home in Cascade, Iowa.
Visitation for David will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a KC rosary will be held at 6 p.m. and the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department will meet in a body at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial for David will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Mark Osterhaus presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.
David was born June 22, 1937, in Cascade, Iowa, son of Hebert J. and Helen (Kurt) McNally. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Cascade, Iowa. On January 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Kay Recker at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sand Springs, Iowa. He worked at Webber Motor Sales/Herb Green Ford as a mechanic from 1954 until his retirement in 2006.
He was a member of the St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa. David was also a member of the Cascade Knights of Columbus Council #930, the Dubuque County 4th Degree Dubourgh Assembly #1573, and the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department. Dave joined the fire department his junior year in high school when his father was Chief. Dave didn’t get the chance to serve his country in the military but he did serve his community for 32 years in many roles with the fire department, and was very proud and honored to do so. During his time on the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Secretary and Treasurer for 12 years, Assistant Chief for 8 years, and Chief for 3 years. Dave also helped bring the first Ambulance Service to Cascade when he was Assistant Chief.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, he always enjoyed telling life stories, camping and tinkering in his garage, he was a very helpful person to all and was a true “Duct Tape Fixit man”.
Dave is survived by his wife of 65 years, Katherine “Kay” McNally of Cascade; three children, Mike (Kim) McNally of Monticello, Jan (Kent) Manternach of Osceola, and Todd (Jill) McNally of Madison, WI; 7 grandchildren, Travis and Marissa McNally, Zach, Josh, Jake and Nathan Manternach and Danny Driscoll; four great grandchildren; one sister, Margie Gehl of Cascade; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Tami McNally, Marvin (Rita) Recker, Norb (Monica) Recker, Ed (Darice) Recker all of Cascade, IA, Diane Baumann of Mequon, WI, Pat (Sherri) Recker of FL, Terry Recker of Evansdale, IA and Carol White of Cedar Rapids, IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Judy (Bob) Salathe (Harry Redwine, Bill Eggers) and and Mary Jane (Pete) Sauser; one brother, Steve McNally; and three brothers-in-law, Joe Gehl, Tom Baumann and Pat White.
