Delbert E. Ronnebaum
Delbert Eugene Ronnebaum of Earlville, Iowa passed away unexpectantly at home, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 77.Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville. A Wake Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Visitation until 7:00 pm, Friday, December 5, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville, additional visitation will be 9:00 am – 10:00 am at church prior to Mass. Burial with Military Honors conducted by Dyersville American Legion Post #137 will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Earlville.

Delbert was born July 3, 1948, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Arlene (Wulfekuhle) Ronnebaum. He lived his entire life in “God’s Country” Earlville, Iowa. On September 25, 1971, he was united in marriage to Darlene Steffen at St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi. Together they farmed and raised their family north of Earlville on the family’s home farm. Delbert was a jack of all trades working for numerous businesses in Delaware County. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friend at the Earlville Fire Station.
Delbert was a member of the St. Joseph Parish in Earlville, American Legion Post 137, He took great pride in his family of 5 children and 12 grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his love of farming, and as a Dad and Grandpa that you could count on for anything. His quick wit, excellent memory, and numerous stories of past years will be forever treasured and missed. His family will miss him, matside, courtside, and ringside, as he was their number one fan.
Left to carry on his good deeds and legacy are his wife Darlene, and his 5 children Sara (Tom) Kruse, Rachel (Mark) Kruse, Mitchell (Jenny) Ronnebaum, Marty (Michaela) Ronnebaum, and Beth (Craig) Schulte and his 12 Grandchildren, Kaleb, Cole, and Carter Kruse, Mason Kruse, Haley, Bianka, and Braden Ronnebaum, Grant, Gavin, and Kiya Ronnebaum, and Alison and Cooper Schulte. His siblings, Ronald (Joan) Ronnebaum, Mary Langel, Alice Munz, and Lisa (Joseph) Jaeger and in-laws Florian (Karen) Steffen, Mary (John) Smith, Don (Jackie) Steffen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Arlene (Wulfekuhle) Ronnebaum, father and mother in-law, Edmund and Ana Mae Steffen, and in-laws Jeanna Ronnebaum and James Langel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the family to support 4-H and FFA Youth of Delaware County.
