Diana Smith, 69, of West Des Moines, IA, formally of Dubuque, IA  passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Diana was born on November 6, 1954 to Dorrance and Violetta Pluym in Dubuque, IA. She attended Wahlert High School in Dubuque and graduated in 1972. During her adolescence, she was an avid member of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps and she continued to follow them throughout the years.

She went on to marry Terry Smith and had three children, Jeromy, Adam and Talli Smith.

Diana retired from McKesson Corporation and moved to West Des Moines, IA in 2019 so she could be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, and love in abundance. On the weekends, you would find her racing from field to field and gym to gym, to watch her grandchildren play in various sports. She loved to travel, especially if there was a beach. She cherished her children and her grandchildren were the center of her universe. This sudden loss leaves a profound imprint on the heart of her family as well as all those who were lucky enough to know her.

Diana is lovingly remembered by her children, Jeromy, Adam (Sarah) and Talli Smith; siblings, Doris Feipel, Donna Engler and David (Diane) Pluym; grandchildren, Rylee, Jack, Henry, Aiden, Greta and Olivia, great-grandchild Murphy, and a community of friends.

She rejoins her parents, Dorrance and Violetta Pluym, and brother-in-law David Feipel in eternal peace.

A celebration of life will be held at St John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk, IA on September 28, 2024 at from 12:00-3:00.
