Donald L. Flagel Sr., 89, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg, Iowa.

Private family graveside services and burial were held at Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.  A private family visitation was held at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  There is no public visitation.

Donald Lee Flagel Sr. was born on November 11, 1932 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Gordon William and Alverda (Gnade) Flagel.  He was a graduate of Andrew High School.  He first worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa, then Better Homes Furniture in Maquoketa for ten years, and lastly as a custodian for the Maquoketa Community School District for 27 years.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Donald (Sherri) Flagel Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Deanna (Tom) Berthel of Cedar Rapids, IA, Douglas Flagel of Maquoketa, IA, and David (Stacie) Flagel of Johnston, IA; 5 grandchildren,  3 great-grandchildren; a sister Karen Ganzer; and a brother Gary Flagel.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Donna Rorah.

The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
